Many cafes serve cakes from the Middle East in Melbourne. Most of them are in the northern area of the city, so for those like me who like coffee and a sweet after a meal, it’s quite sad that there is no such cafe in our area. Well, what can I do? After breaking fast and praying we went straight to Campbellfield where the cafe is located. It turns out that in this month of Ramadan, many Muslims like to have coffee after eating like me. This place is crowded where you can see halal restaurants, bakeries and cafes in a row. Alhamdulillah the three of us got a table inside. This cafe looks very clean and organized although not so big. It’s similar to Balhah’s – the difference is that Balhah’s has a second floor area. The waiter did not have time to greet customers because he was busy taking orders. After waiting a while we could order – my daughter and I had the usual cappuccinos and my granddaughter ordered hot chocolate. We choose knafeh to go with our coffee as well as some baklava and znood for take away. They also have one savoury menu item (with minced meat) which we will try later. What I really like about Afiouni is that their cakes are not too sweet, which is wonderful but unfortunately as a coffee fan, their coffee is just OK in my opinion. One more interesting thing-they sell juice from a cute food truck.
