Biryani House

Biryani House isn’t the prettiest place to enjoy Indian food in Melbourne, but its food is authentic, and on a nice day you can always take away and sit in Flagstaff Gardens across the road. Before the pandemic, on a Friday afternoon queues would go out the door from the post-Jumah crowd (the city mosque at Jeffcott Street is around the corner), while the place was also a popular lunch choice for CBD office workers. Happily, Biryani House has survived Melbourne’s lockdowns, and is still serving fragrant basmati rice, a range of veggie curries, and its famed ‘chicken 65’.

Can’t go past the chicken 65
