After Fajr prayer I got ready to pick up my daughter who always accompanied me going to different places. Since she lives in central Melbourne and I’m in Burwood, it was a 40 minute drive so to try to arrive at my promised time, I had to leave the house at 7am. Our plan was to visit a cafe that we often passed by if we wanted to pick up my eldest granddaughter, who is studying at the RMIT campus located behind this cafe. I like cafes like this that are surrounded by glass windows because it gives the impression that we are not confined and can enjoy the view of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. When we entered, we were greeted with great hospitality. The atmosphere of the cafe was still quiet then, with only two buyers but it filled up as the morning passed. We immediately ordered coffee because the winter air was so cold. After that, we ordered shaksuka (spicy baked eggs and tomato) and mujadara (lentils and rice with halloumi) for our breakfast and fresh juice – a mix of apple, carrot and mint. Service is quite fast; there is no real difference in decor with other cafes. The unique features of this cafe are firstly the impeccable service, and secondly the middle eastern influences on their menu, which also caters to vegans and people on a gluten free diet.
