Baro Mediterranean Restaurant

You’ll find Baro in the seaside holiday town of Rosebud, around eighty kilometers from Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. The restaurant’s name alludes to the Turkish equivalent of ‘mate’ or ‘bro’. Our large family group went for the mixed platter (lamb and chicken shish cooked deliciously over charcoal on skewers with salad and cacik) and cevapi (tender minced beef skinless sausages-also charcoal grilled, with sumac coated onions and salad). I don’t know if it was the cooking method or the fact that fresh local produce is used, but the quality of the food was high; the service was friendly. Unfortunately on the day we were there the coffee machine was broken but – like all Turkish eateries – tea is available.

Mouth-watering cevapi at Baro
