Neko Neko

My daughter goes to Japan around once a year, and she was missing halal Japanese food. This year was the third time that I and other family members joined her. In particular she was craving the halal ramen and halal Japanese curry we would have in Tokyo’s Asakusa district (the curry is lighter and not as spicy as the ones you find in south and Southeast Asian cuisines). In the absence of halal Japanese curry and ramen in Melbourne, the next best thing is vegan versions of these dishes which you can try at Neko-Neko (yes, the small eatery’s name is literally ‘cats’ and there are several cute cat magazines in Japanese strewn about the table). Please note that while there’s no meat on the menu (it’s all pescaterian and vegan, including a wonderful matcha soy latte) there are some Japanese alcoholic drinks available.
