Halal Culinary Adventures heads to the West Australian capital.
Indonesian restaurant Ayam Penyet Ria has branches in several cities in Australia such as Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and the one we visited in Perth. It turns out that this restaurant has been around since 1998. I think their success lies in the authenticity of the food. This can be proven by the number of visitors and buyers who mostly go for takeaway or have their orders delivered. Plus the service is quite fast and includes a friendly smile from the wait staff. The branch in Perth is located on Albany Highway, in Victoria Park.

We did not regret choosing this place from other halal restaurants in Perth. We ordered beefball soup, batagor, chicken satay, gado-gado and Betawi stew….all of them delicious with the right taste. Trying each other’s orders, our opinions were unanimous: all were delicious, just that the gado-gado had too much lettuce and we have never seen tomatoes in gado-gado. For drinks I ordered “cendol with durian” while my daughter tried the “cendol without durian” So what are you waiting for? If you visit Perth someday, don’t skip eating here.

Without wasting any opportunity we reviewed brunch on our first day here. The Sarapan Malaysian restaurant is located on Mill Point Street, in South Perth in western Australia. The place is quite spacious with inside and outdoor seating which looked very comfortable. They provide various types of bread, some savory and some sweet in various flavors. As is typical of a Malaysian eatery their specialty is nasi lemak with simple side dishes. This time I chose the “nasi goreng kampung” and in our opinion this was very delicious – different from ordinary fried rice and served with fried chicken that was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The whole thing really suits our palate. My second daughter and her father chose nasi bungkus lemak, while her husband chose the “big Western breakfast”. I also tried the potato curry puff and the “onde-onde” cake which is also known as the “maco cake”. Our breakfast was accompanied by our regular cappuccino but which was very different from Melbourne’s unbeatable coffee.

Restaurant Indonesia “Ayam Penyet Ria” sudah membuka cabang dibeberapa kota di Australia seperti Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney dan yang kami kunjungi kali ini berada dikota Perth. Ternyata restaurant ini sudah ada dari tahun 1998. Menurutku kesuksesan mereka terletak di keaslian rasa dari menu-menu yang ditampilkan. Ini bisa dibuktikan banyaknya pengunjung dan pembeli yang “pick up” atau yang diantar. Plus pelayanan yang cukup cepat. Ditambah senyuman ramah dari pelayannya. Cabang yang di Perth ini terletak Albany Highway, Victoria Park. Kami sama sekali tidak menyesal memilih restaurant ini diantara halal restaurant lain yang ada di Perth. Kami memesan Bakso Kuah, Batagor, sate Ayam, Gado-gado dan soto Betawi….semua menu ini terasa lezat dengan rasa yang pas. Saling mencicipi pesanan masing-masing pendapat kami sama: semua enak hanya gado-gadonya terlalu banyak lettuce dan belum pernah melihat tomat dalam gado-gado. Untuk minuman aku memesan “cendol dengan durian” sedang anakku memesan “cendol tanpa durian”. Jadi tunggu apalagi ? Kalau anda berkunjung ke Perth suatu hari nanti, jangan lewatkan untuk makan disini.

Tanpa menyiakan kesempatan selama disini kami coba mereview makan pagi kami waktu hari pertama disini. The Sarapan (restoran Malaysia) berada dijalan Mill Point, di Perth selatan disebelah barat Australia. Tempatnya lumayan luas karena selain ruang duduk didalam mereka ada tempat duduk diluar juga yang kelihatan sangat nyaman. Mereka menyediakan bermacam-macam jenis roti, ada yang asin dan ada yang manis. Roti inipun ber- macam-macam rasa. Seperti biasa ciri khas mereka ada nasi lemak juga. Juga nasi bungkus lemak dengan lauk sederhana. Kali ini aku memilih “nasi goreng kampung” dan menurut kami menu ini sangat enak, berbeda dengan nasi goreng biasa. Juga dilengkapi dengan ayam goreng yang garing diluar lembut didalam sangat cocok dengan lidah kami. Anak keduaku dan ayahnya memilih nasi bungkus lemak, sedang suaminya memilih “big Western breakfast”. Tak lupa aku memilih “kari puff kentang” dan “kue onde-onde” atau juga disebut “kue maco”. Makan pagi kami seperti biasa ditemani cappucino yang jauh berbeda dengan cappucino Melbourne yang belum terkalahkan.
