Caroline Springs is a whopping 42km from my home but we went there to try a new halal restaurant recommended by a friend. Lots of restaurants now offer halal menus for Muslim customers with this one specialising in Italian favourites. Mandolin is on the top floor and you have to follow signs to find it. What’s interesting about Mandolin is the rooftop space that we wanted to see. Unfortunately the weather was very cold and the outside area was covered in plastic so we couldn’t take photos there. The decoration is simple but stylish with lots of tables and chairs. For this visit we ordered lamb cutlet appetizers and for mains rib eye steak, spaghetti bolognaise, ravioli Genovese, chicken stroganoff and the truffle mushroom pizza. To accompany our meals we had some mocktails (the Berry Melon Breeze and Classic West Side) and cappucinos. We did have to wait patiently to enjoy this delicious food. For dessert we chose the Fico Budini which is similar to a sticky date pudding with ice cream, and some delicious tiramisu. While prices are a bit steep the portions were generous and quite large for us. If you live in the Caroline Springs area, there’s no harm in stopping by; we’re sure that on weekends many people will visit especially if the weather turns warmer.

Saat ini banyak restauran yang mulai menyediakan menu halal untuk orang-orang yang beragama Islam. Restaurant ini menyediakan menu masakan dari Italia. Didaerah kami juga sudah ada restaurant seperti ini. Restauran ini ada dilantai atas dan kami harus mengikuti petunjuk untuk menemukannya. Yang menarik dari Mandolin adalah ruang roof top yang ingin kami lihat. Sayangnya udara sangat dingin ruangan ditutup plastik dan kami tidak bisa mengambil photo disana. Decorasi sederhana dan rapi; sepertinya mereka mengutamakan banyaknya meja dan bangku. Kali ini kami memesan makanan pembuka lamb cutlets dan untuk main kami memilih Rib Eye Steak, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Ravioli Genovese, Chicken stroganoff, dan pizza Truffle Mushroom. Tidak lupa kami memesan mocktail untuk minuman kami (Berry Melon Breeze dan Classic West Side) serta cappuccino. Memang kita harus sabar menunggu untuk menikmati makanan yang cukup enak ini. Untuk makanan penutup kami memilih Fico Budini yang mirip sticky date puding dengan ice cream, dan tiramisu yang enak sekali. Porsi lumayan besar untuk kami, sedang harga lumayan terjangkau. Untuk anda yang tinggal didaerah Caroline Springs, tidak ada salahnya untuk mampir disini. Dan kami yakın pada weekend pasti banyak yang datang kesini terutama apabila weather berubah hangat.
