Chinese Lanzhou Auspicious Palace

On a WhatsApp group of Melbourne based halal food bloggers a photo was sent of a new halal place in Melbourne’s Chinatown. Its name appeared to be “Chinese Lanzhou Auspicious Palace Hand-Made Noodlesoup With Beef”. One line. That name would make slightly more sense if half of it was on a new line. Anyway, I was intrigued and also a huge fan of proper Chinese food done halal-ey, so we checked it out.

The Temple of Fortunate Muslim Friendly Noodles or whatever it’s called enjoys a perfect location on Little Bourke street, smack bang in the middle of the city. It’s new and clean, with a ‘modern Asian’ vibe to the decor. On weekends the queue stretches out the door.

Because it’s new the place is still working out its menu. When we went an entire BBQ section (it looked incredible) was not yet available and a scratched out savoury item was called – I kid you not – a ‘Muslim pancake’. I stopped my eldest daughter from asking the friendly wait staff when the Muslim pancake might be available and whether an infidel pancake would be offered as an alternative.

The portion sizes were immense and excellent value. You could opt for one serving of various traditional beef noodle dishes or one set/combo; and share it between two people. The bowls and plates come with cute halal labels. The food is swoon inducing. The food, the location, and the good service get a thumbs up from me and a pledge to return to the Emporium of Lucky Noodles Suitable for Islamic Diets, to try out the rest of their menu.

Namanya “Chinese Lanzhou Auspicious palace Hand-Made Noodlesoup With Beef”.

Ukuran porsi sangat besar dan ‘good value’.
